The Rooneys, both 23, spent £300 to hire a 4D ultrasound scanning machine earlier this month so loved ones could watch their baby’s movements inside the womb.

They used a company that offers an at-home ultrasound service where an expert sonographer takes the machine to the parents’ home. Such packages usually come with souvenir pictures and a DVD.

Friends said the event was a “low-key” affair with only a few close family members and friends.

“Most expectant mothers go and have their scans done in private,” a source close to the Rooneys told the Daily Mail.

“But Colleen and Wayne couldn’t wait to show off baby Roo. The 4D scanning machines give a really clear picture. You can see all the baby’s features and movements. You would even have been able to see it yawning or sticking its tongue out,” said the source.

“Colleen and Wayne found the whole thing really exciting. They haven’t stopped telling people about it and now they’re even more excited about the baby being born.”

The Rooneys, who met at school, married last summer and are expecting their baby in September.
